An unexpected key to learning Spanish

As they say, perfectionism is the enemy of progress. That applies to learning a language, too! One of the unexpected keys to learning Spanish is this: Do away with perfectionism! 🗝️

In my live office hours (available to my Self-Paced Spanish 1 and Self-Paced Spanish 2 students), sometimes we practice pronunciation. Occasionally, students will apologize when I correct them on how to pronounce a certain word.

I’m quick to tell them not to say “sorry” when they make pronunciation mistakes! When learning a language, we should make mistakes as we practice and progress. It’s part of the process! As a parent of a Spanish-learner, you can help your student by reminding them of this.

Help your student do away with perfectionism in 2026.

And, if you (the parent) are the one wanting to learn Spanish, the same applies to you. Be brave, speak Spanish, and make mistakes!
